The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Simplicity Inc., recently announced a voluntary recall of cribs which were a part of Simplicity’s "Nursery-In-A-Box" furniture set. The recall included model numbers 8910 and 8050 with serial numbers 3005 HY through 0806 HY.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall notice mentioned that the assembly instruction provided with the cribs incorrectly instructed consumers on how to attach the crib’s "drop side". If improperly installed , the “drop side” can disengage from the crib, posing fall and entrapment hazards for small children. Additionally, the metal locking pins on the "drop side" can become dislodged, presenting a choking hazard.

At least two suffocation deaths have been reported as a result of the aforementioned hazard and over one million cribs and other furniture products designed by Simplicity have been recalled over the last two years. For more information regarding recalled Simplicity products or injuries resulting therefrom, please feel free to contact us.
