HydroxycutThe Hydroxycut lawyers at Houssiere, Durant & Houssiere, L.L.P are aggressively pursuing clients who may have experienced serious side effects from usage of the dietary aid Hydroxycut. On May 1, 2009, after receiving nearly two dozen reports of injury from users of Hydroxycut, the FDA issued a warning letter urging all consumers to stop using Hydroxycut immediately.

The adverse events reported to the FDA include liver damage, elevated liver enzymes, seizures, and various heart problems. There has been one reported death involving a 19 year old man which was suffered as a result of Hydroxycut side effects.

In response to the FDA’s warning, Iovate Healthsciences, the manufacturer of Hydroxycut, has issued a mass recall of fourteen Hydroxycut products, requiring all sellers to rid their shelves of these products. Hydroxycut is a natural supplement marketed as a fat burner, weight loss supplement, energy booster, low carbohydrate diet aid, and to reduce water retention.

Last week, Canada filed a class action lawsuit against Iovate Healthsciences alleging that the manufacturer failed to provide proper warning to consumers of the serious risks they are exposed to by taking Hydroxycut products. The omission from the product’s label of dangerous side-effects is unethically deceiving, and it forbids consumers from making a fully informed decision about what they choose to put in their body. The Hydroxycut lawsuit is claiming general damages in the amount of $20 million for the class, retention of all revenues or other amounts earned from the sale of Hydroxycut to the Class Members, as well as punitive damages and other costs.

The Hydroxycut lawyers at HDH are investigating individual cases around the country involving personal injury from Hydroxycut side effects. Hydroxycut health risks include jaundice, liver damage requiring a transplant, cardiovascular disease, diabetes keroacidosis and muscular disorders. According to the FDA, the reported injuries have occurred while taking the recommended dosage written on Hydroxycut labels.

Our Hydroxycut lawyers urge all users of Hydroxycut to take notice of warnings by the FDA and the manufacturer, and to stop usage immediately. Please contact your physician if you have used Hydroxycut and experience any of the following symptoms of liver damage: yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes, nausea, vomiting, brown urine, light colored stool, abdominal pain/itching. If you or a loved one have used Hydroxycut and experience these symptoms, please contact the Hydroxycut lawyers at Houssiere, Durant & Houssiere, L.L.P. for a free consultation, as you may be entitled to compensation.
