Ford
Cruise Control Lawsuit.
In addition to the Recall
of 260,000 vehicles announced
earlier, Ford is now recalling
some 3.8 million vehicles
due to faulty Cruise Control
shutoff switches.
A
resistive short develops in the
electrical speed control deactivation
switch (SCDS) which impairs cruise
control function and/or the brake
lights. Subsequently the part
may smolder, burn and ultimately
ignite volatile brake fluid within
the engine compartment.

Fire Lawsuit. Ford is
recalling nearly 260,000 vehicles,
including F-Series Super Duty
Pickups from the 2004-2005
model years, and the Ford Excursion
Full Size SUV and E350 and
E450 vans for the 2004-2005
model years. About 180,100
of these vehicles have 6.0
liter diesel engines that have
a potentially faulty fuel injection
control module. There have
been reports of two minor injuries
resulting from this problem.
The National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration (NHTSA)
announced that Ford was recalling
78,675 Super Duty Pickups and
chassis cab vehicles from the
2005 model year because their
fuel line may separate from
the main fuel bundle. The NHTSA
said that fuel line separation
can cause engine stalling or
leakage, possibly resulting
in a fire. The trucks affected
by this recall include the
F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550
Super Duty pickups. These trucks
were equipped with 5.4 or 6.8
liter gasoline engines. Twenty-five
