Car
fires. Car
fires. Ford is recalling
nearly 260,000 vehicles,
including F-Series Super
Duty Pickups from the 2004-2005
model years, and the Ford
Excursion Full Size SUV and
E350 and E450 vans for the
2004-2005 model years. About
180,100 of these vehicles
have 6.0 liter diesel engines
that have a potentially faulty
fuel injection control module.
There have been reports of
two minor injuries resulting
from this problem.
The
National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration (NHTSA)
announced that Ford was recalling
78,675 Super Duty Pickups
and chassis cab vehicles
from the 2005 model year
because their fuel line may
separate from the main fuel
bundle. The
trucks affected by this recall
include the F-250, F-350,
F-450 and F-550 Super Duty
pickups. These trucks were
equipped with 5.4 or 6.8
liter gasoline engines. The
NHTSA said that fuel line
separation can cause engine
stalling or leakage, possibly
resulting in a car fire (car
fires). .
In
addition to car fires, we
represent many clients in
rollover accidents. Rollover
accidents involve two distinct
categories of defects.
First,
there are those design
defects that actually cause
the rollover, such as dynamic
instability, handling and
steering.
Second,
there are crashworthiness
defects that are unrelated
to the cause of the rollover,
but produce or enhance
the injuries of the vehicle
occupants.
These "crashworthiness" defects
include: inadequate roof
structure that intrudes into
the occupant space, seat
belts that do not perform
properly, windshield and
windows, door latches, unforgiving
interior components and general
substandard occupant protection
in a collision. We, as consumers,
are entitled to expect the
vehicles that we purchase
and use for our families
to be as safe as technologically
possible.
At
a very minimum, any vehicle
ought to be able to slide
sideways on dry smooth pavement
without rolling over. This
can be achieved by simply
making the track width wider
and/or lowering the center
of gravity.
