The LifePort® line of ports, manufactured by Horizon Medical Products, offers a complete line of venous and arterial ports. Recently, we’ve received reports of a potential defect in the Horizon LifePort® line of ports. After being surgically implanted into the body, the catheter may crack and break, causing catheter fragments to travel through the veins into the heart. This can result in another surgical operation to remove the broken pieces from inside the heart or pulmonary vessels. Specifically, we’ve received reports concerning the following models of the Horizon LifePort® line of ports:
